(Second Update) Network Disruption Notice - Weekend of September 21~22, 2024 (mylpfm.com and recnet.net)

2026 FM Translator Filing Window. Resources and REC professional services

Updated September 21, 2024 6:15 AM EDT

As a part of the REC System40 transition project, there will be work that will be performed during the weekend of September 21 & 22, 2024 which may disrupt the user experience.

9/21 6:15AM Update: The actual impact of this change was a lot smaller than we originally expected.  We will strike out the information that is no longer applicable.  We have also started the transition of recnet.net to System40.  The transition is already completed on our end, but may take longer elsewhere based on network propagation and cached DNS settings in the client's computer.

There are two separate incidents that will take place this weekend.

Transition of the recnet.net domain

This weekend, we will be transferring the main recnet.net domain to the System40 servers.  One of the public services on this domain, the spare callsign list has already been transitioned to calls.recnet.com.  The redirect will remain.  This domain also hosts FMMAP as well as many static documents (such as those at recnet.net/fcc).  All of these URLs will remain the same at this time.

recnet.net also hosts several API endpoints (recnet.net/api).  These endpoints will be transitioned to api.recnet.net.

During the transition, users may experience no response from the website, error messages or SSL security warnings on their browser.  The resumption time may vary based on propagation through the internet and the user's browser and DNS cache settings.  If users get a SSL security warning that the site is unsafe, you may go ahead and click the link on the page to access the site insecurely if you wish.  Otherwise, please come back later when everything is in place.

We expect the overall outage to be very short and again, this only impacts a very small amount of REC's public content.

Please note that some recnet.net services may return error messages throughout this weekend.  We are still involved in recoding.

Realignment of SSL certificates on Legacy

We plan to make some changes to SSL certificates on the Legacy server that may impact the experience on the following REC public sites:

fccdata.org
fcc.today
lpfm.us
lpfm.ws
mylpfm.com
lpfm.app

With the exception of recnet.net, none of these applications are doing the full transition to System40 at this time.  This will happen further down the project.  recnet.net services are currently being actively transitioned at this time and may not be the subject of this specific task that is the reason for this network disruption.

During this network disruption, users visiting the site, may experience warning messages and site blockage stating that the website is not secure.  If you encounter such a message, you may choose to click to continue to the unsecured site or try your request later.  Actually transition will depend on network propagation and the user's browser.   We do not anticipate this to be a very long outage.

Thank you for your understanding.
