LP-250 Upgrade Check

2026 FM Translator Filing Window. Resources and REC professional services
By admin | 7:07 PM EST, Sat March 09, 2024

On March 8, 2024, REC has updated our database to reflect LPFM facilities' eligibility for an upgrade to the LP250 class of service proposed by REC in RM-11909 (Simple250).

This current run includes:

  • Currently licensed LPFM facilities from the FIrst Generation (2000~2001) LPFM Filing Window.
  • Currently licensed LPFM facilities from the Second Generation (2013) LPFM Filing Window.
  • Currently licensed LPFM facilities from the Third Generation (2023) LPFM Filing Window.
  • Granted construction permits for facilities from the Third Generation LPFM Filing Window.
  • Pending applications from the Third Generation LPFM Filing Window that have been accepted for filing.

A new search tool has been created at:
https://recnet.com/lp250-check

The tool will display the availability information and show population and demographic data, both as the current facility as well as an LP-250 facility (regardless of upgrade qualification).  Population and demographic data is not available for the 9 LPFM facilities located in American Samoa, Guam and the United States Virgin Islands.

The tool will also display information on potential alternate channels that may be available for upgrade, regardless of upgrade status on the current channel.
