Radio History Project: Chicago FM 2

2026 FM Translator Filing Window. Resources and REC professional services
By admin | 6:56 PM EDT, Sat June 17, 2023

Prior to electronic systems used to track broadcast applications, the FCC Broadcast Bureau staff would use index cards to track station data.  The FCC has made those cards available.

The REC Radio History Project converts the information into electronic format to be stored in the REC Datastore in the Radio History Project Database and eLMS.

More information on the Radio History Project can be found at:

Note that during this update, we encountered issues with the CDBS public view system, which we use to get public notice data for assignment and transfer of license applications issued in the BAPS era (1978~1999) that are not in the history cards.  Therefore, not all parties to the assignments and transfers were entered into the History Project.  We may revisit these missing listings in the future if/when CDBS public view becomes more stable again.

The next mission for the Radio History Project will be San Francisco area FM.
